LONDON, March 24 — Bird flu has been detected in a sheep in northern England, the first known case of its kind in the world, Britain’s government said, adding to the growing list of mammals infected by the disease and fuelling fears of a pandemic.

CANBERRA, June 4 — Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected at a third poultry farm near Melbourne, but not the same strain that spread globally and raised fears of human transmission, the Victoria government said on Wednesday.
